=======================================================
DETAILS of above headlines
--------------------------

1) For Sale: *2* Used Computers

Other parts (hard drives, memory - enquire about availability)

Reasons to own a second computer:
- so that your GOOD computer does not get infected with viruses
- to give to your kids (see above)
- to use for email, web browsing, testing new programs
- as a spare computer if your first computer stops working
- as a backup for pictures, documents and emails

I have two computers for sale:
- both computers are fully loaded (customers familiar
with how I reinstall their computer know all the goodies
that I pre-load - better than first purchased!)

HP Pavilion 762n: 2.26 ghz, 512 mb ram, 80 gb hard drive
Price: $200

Dell Dimension 3000: 2.4 ghz, 512 mb ram, 60 gb hard drive
Price: $200

Disclaimer: In working order, but without a warranty.
These computers came from my customer's homes. And wiped clean
and the operating system, anti-virus and programs reinstalled
and run for at least 24 hours straight.

2) Discounted Web Sites and email accounts
$160 first year - includes 2 web pages. $120 renewal.

Advantages of having your own web site:
- if you run a home business, it gives you a presence on the web
- you get your own email address (example: info@mywebsite.com )
- you can set up any number of email addresses for your family
- portability - you don't have to change your email address
when you move from internet providers ( @cfl.rr.com @embarqmail.com)
- looks great on a business card
- helps filter spam and bogus emails (extra program provided for free)
- great opportunity to advertise your business
[ search engine optimization available at an additional charge ]

3) Microsoft kills XP (ok, no longer sells XP) June 2008

XP is dead. Long live XP.

VISTA (the new operating system for pc's) is now sold
on all computers.
XP is no longer sold on new pc's (with the possible exception
of business purchases from Dell and HP etc)

If you want XP on your new computer, with some exceptions,
it is still possible to wipe Vista and install XP.
- I still run a service to provide the reinstall.

If you want VISTA, but hate the lack of performance or
all the garbage that comes with a new computer,
- I still have a service called "decrappify"
but cannot promise more than a 15% improvement in speed

To answer your next question:
Is VISTA safer (less viruses) than XP?
Actually, it is. Not all of the thousands of viruses that run
on XP will run on Vista. Luckily (for me!) that number is changing
on a day to day basis!

THIS JUST IN:
Microsoft has extended selling XP on "low end" nettops till 2010.
Proving again, buying resource-hungry VISTA is not a good idea!

4) BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP (or "no more tears")

You do not want to know how many times a week I hear this:
"My computer has died, and I lost everything"

- If the hard drive stops spinning, you MAY get your data,
pictures, emails, documents back - but it will cost over $2,000
- If the hard drive can spin, then I MAY be able to save
SOME of your work. But you are still taking your chances!

What to do?

- Burn important files to a CD or DVD
(Lessons available on how to back up your files)
- By an external hard drive and back up your files
(Lessons available on copying files)
- Set up networking
(Hire me to set up a secure network in your home)

There is no reason to lose all of your data!

Aside: When was the last time you had the INSIDE of your
computer cleaned? I'd show pictures of recent computers
before dust and dirt were removed, but you may have
delicate stomachs!

5) Are viruses "funny" ?

Not if it happens to you!

But you have to "admire" the gall of this one:

The virus is IEVirus, a variant of Winfixer.

It puts realistic-looking creepy bugs on your screen,
and music in the background.
