Search Engine Placement - What is it - How does it work?

Search Engine Placement
The majority of companies selling "search engine marketing" promise quick results. But that goes against the very nature of advertising.

To quote Jim of Copyfax Orlando. "When you send out flyers, you can set your clock for 3 months. Sure enough, no matter when you date your sale, the calls will always come in 90 days after the flyer is mailed. Is there a reason or logic? No. As Jim said "I've been in the business over 20 years in Orlando, FL. and this is the way companies work!"

How does this affect you and your internet advertising?

Well, companies will sell you Pay Per Click. This is very expensive, and yes, to some extent it works. But, as you well know, advertising is about getting your name out in front of a customer - not once - not twice - but at least three times before they pick up a phone.

That's the technique I employ. Posting your adverts all over the internet. Linking, blogging, tweeting and advertising your company and your current sales flyer. Getting your name in front of the customer. Getting a better ranking from all the search engines (not just google, thank you).

Does this work? You bet it does. Does it take patience and time? Sadly, yes. It takes 3 months (yes, the net works just like snail mail). It works. Your rankings will slowly move up. And as people see your name over and over again, in different and varied web sites all over the net, they get familiar with your name and your product. And that's when they call.....

My technique is labor intensive. It takes time. It needs input from you. But it works! Want to test it? I did a short campaign with "May Mei Garden" - Try this: type in "Apopka Chinese Food" into google and see where this restaurant rates!!!! 2nd web site after pay per click. At a fraction of the price !!!!

If you are interested in getting listed, now is the time.
Prices have been slashed as my company is changing over from home computer repair (Computer Virus Removal) to Search Engine Placement.

Response to Orlando Sentinel "Cape for Jobs"

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/opinion/os-ed-abortion-letters-042111-20110420,0,4356288.story

Caped crusaders are commended

Workforce Central Florida's cape crusade is brilliant. And I am shocked at the lack of business savvy the Orlando Sentinel has shown in belittling its efforts ("Super lunacy," Tuesday).

Please send Sentinel reporters to the mayor's job fairs, which are held every two months. They will see 5,000 people or more lining up, and getting turned down, for the pitifully few jobs that are paying $8 to $11 an hour. These people — many were business executives with high-paying jobs — are walking away with their hopes dashed. But they do get a free pen for talking to an overwhelmed human-resource recruiter.

I do not mean to compare a cape to a pen. Look at the total costs of initializing the cape program, the research, the computer programming on the agency's website and the publicity.

Now, think about the number of people underemployed or out of work and those who have given up or simply have run out of benefits and are not being counted. Workforce Orlando should be commended for its efforts.

10 Reasons Why People Don't Visit Your Web Site

10 Reasons Why People Don't Visit Your Web Site
Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-29580

1. You don't offer free original content. It's important
to give your visitors information they can't find any-
where else. If you're the only source for a certain type
of information, people will flock to your web site.

2. You don't offer free software. Most people like
to find good deals on software for their computers. If
the software is free, that is even better.

3. You don't offer a free contest or sweepstakes. It's
a fact, people like to win things. If you can fulfill that
need, people will stop by to visit.

4. You don't offer a free directory. Create a directory
of web sites on a particular topic that is related to your
target audience. People will visit because they will find
what they're looking for, all in one place.

5. You don't offer a free e-zine. Most people love to
get free information that they're interested in emailed
to them on a regular basis. This saves them time and
money.

6. You don't offer a free community. People like to
have a place were they can have discussions with
others on a particular subject. You could add a chat
room or message board to your web site.

7. You don't offer a free affiliate program. One of
people's basic needs to survive is money. When you
offer them a free opportunity to make money they'll
line up to visit your web site.

8. You don't offer a free online utility. When you offer
a utility that can solve a problem, people will visit your
web site. The utility could be a free autoresponder,
e-mail account, search engine submission, etc.

9. You don't offer free current information. Supply
news stories related to your web site. People want
up-to-date news on the topics they are interested in.
They will also be interested in visiting your web site.

10. You don't offer free samples of your product
or service. Have you ever been to a store and you
jumped at the chance to get a free sample of food?
This same concept will also attract people to visit
your web site.

July 13, 2006 - Newsletter by Jerrold Schiff

1) Warning - watch out for the following viruses (virii?)

Pest Trap - THIS IS NOT MY PROGRAM !
- I may have left "Pest Patrol" on your computer
Pest Patrol is a GOOD program - that removes 40% of all known
viruses, spyware etc. It even removes LIMEWIRE, KAZAA
and BEARSHARE (file sharing programs). It does NOT
go after good programs like Azureus!

Winantivirus, spyquake, spysheriff, spywareNO
- these are truly obnoxious programs
- they ANNOUNCE that you have 300 viruses,
they TEMPT you into buying their program for removal
and they OPEN THE DOOR to really bad viruses
and of course, do not remove any viruses at all.
Cost is usually $39.95
Cost to reinstall your computer is $180 (that's MY charge)

2) Norton renewal.

Is it time to renew your anti virus software?
Hire me to update your NORTON, and in that same hour,
I will clean out the temporary files, find any hidden viruses,
and stop any unnecessary programs from loading, running and using resources.

3) Computer Lessons.

By now, you've seen my new advertisement (ie: Winter Park Observer).
People have told me that, compared to most computer geeks, they
can actually understand what I am saying, and they want me to
teach them how to get a handle on their computer.

Now, this does not mean advanced lessons in Quickbooks, MS Word, Excel etc.
(I have a subcontractor who can handle these questions!)

But the basics - how to back up a computer (save files, burn to disks or
even add a second hard drive for back up and emergency usage)
How to network two or more computers - how to share files or share printers.

4) Emergency Services:
Special:
You can phone your internet provider (Brighthouse, Bellsouth, AOL etc)
and stay on hold for hours - and then get to talk to someone from India
OR YOU CAN CALL ME - and I will be IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER WITHIN 30 minutes
(well provided I am not in front of someone else's computer !)

There is no additional charge for emergency repair services.

One of my favourite clients asked:
"Jerrold - when do you have a day off?"
Answer: "Any day I do not get a phone call!"

5) Hardware Sale:

Need a printer? I have a brand new Dell Printer A924 - still in the box.
Need a fax / printer? Got an older one - that works great (parallel not usb).
Need a "slower" computer for the kids? I've got computers priced under $150
that are perfect for "beginners". Heck, I've got a laptop perfect for a
little one wanting to learn Windows (internet access can be disabled).

The vast majority of viruses running rampant on home users computers are targeted towards your credit card.

Dawson: Virus M.D.

Some very useful information from an expert about computer viruses and tips on protecting your computer from getting infected:

The vast majority of viruses running rampant on home users computers are targeted towards your credit card.

Here is how it works: The virus is loaded onto your computer and starts a virus scan. This is a “fake alert”. It says you have a number of viruses and says you can download the full anti-virus program for $49.95 [ the name of the program, the number of viruses, and the amounts vary].

Scared, the typical home computer owner buys the program online, using his credit card. The purchased software runs, and reports 10 times the number of viruses. Angry, the customer calls the company. They answer, “But it worked for everyone else, and yes, we will gladly refund your money.”

For the price of a phone rep ($7 an hour) and the credit card transaction fee (3%), they now have your credit card and four digit code. The going rate for stolen credit cards is $1,000. Very good business, especially since few companies get caught – they move quickly every day.

How to protect yourself:

1) If you get the virus, don’t buy the software. Either hire a localcomputer virus removal expert, take your computer to a box store, or use another computer to find legitimate anti-virus software for that particular virus.

2) Never click on attachments or links in emails. Wait a few days toclick on links sent from a known friend (they will tell you in a few days ifthey sent you a virus by mistake). Always update your operating system (windows update) and keep your anti-virus program definitions up-to-date.

3) Never use a computer to do banking if you think it is infected with viruses.

4) Back up your data to a cd or external hard drive. Even if it has a virus, at least you haven’t lost everything.

5) Passwords: Use a combination of letters and numbers – and never use anything that can be guessed (like: maiden name and birthday)

Cyber bullying is NOT just a different form of "spam".

Cyber bullying is NOT just a different form of "spam".
The goal of spam tends to be financial gain (bank accounts, credit cards).
The goal of cyber bullying tends towards individuals or groups deemed "inferior".

The targets make up the difference:
Spam casts a broad net with an audience of just a few individuals gullible enough to give out personal and financial information.
Cyber bullying has a more personal target - usually someone the offender already knows.

The worst part of cyber bullying is that the evidence remains permanent - residing on web sites, on forums, within social programs like face book.
Sadly, the internet is not patrolled. It is next to impossible to find the "owner" of the media and remove the "graffiti".

What can be done?
The administrators of each web site must be held accountable for the content.
They must be accessible and responsible.
There needs to be a method, be it "human approval" or programmable scanning for harmful posting.

And the poster, the offending cyber bully, must be charged. It is a crime. There is damage. And they must be held accountable, no matter what their age.

If nothing else, we all need to be aware of the harm that can be caused by "alphabet crimes".
